Velma, Rena and I wish to thank you for the wonderful time which you showed us in Romania and Ukraine. We very much enjoyed your company and truly appreciate all the effort you put into helping us find things of interest to us...churches, cemeteries, rivers, schools, houses etc. etc. You never hesitated to spend extra time or talk to many people to help us find the history for which we were looking.
Thank you also for making us aware of the other sites in Bucovina such as Sucevita and the salt mine and the beautiful countryside. The drive from Cluj through Transylvania and the Gorge was wonderful. We remember the nice breakfast stop on the last morning and your special drink. You shared so much information and history which opened up a new understanding and appreciation for Bucovina and Romania. You were an excellent guide and source of history on the area. The Bucovina brochures which you gave us are a nice remembrance of our trip.

We are back to Hong Kong and when I handled the pics in my computer, oh... I found that Romania is really really beautiful, not just the painted monestaries, churches..... the women, children, aged people.....the villages...... people are still living in their way. They are kind and peaceful.

This was probably one of the most significant trips in our lives because of the personal and familiar aspects involved. I don't know whether you remember us. The "elderly" Swiss couple who was in a hurry and had to cover a lot of distance in a short time..at the end of August.

From 17thto 21th Dec. 2009, we, ─ I, my wife and daughter from Japan ─ made an unforgettable winter trip to Bucovina and Maramures.
Our tour guide was Mr. Sebastian Traciu, nickname "Gigi". Because of the railroad delay from Bucharest we met him in Suceava only after midnight. On 18th he led us in deep snow to BUCOVINA PAINTED MONASTERIESTOUR and on the next day to MARAMURES TOUR. He then brought us through Prislop Pass on schedule to his colleague Mr. Muntean in Vadu Izei.
On these days it snowed so much as never before in the last 30 years in Europe. Once it was minus 17 degrees. Gigi has asserted himself in this unusual weather condition and changed nothing at our plans. He is particularly tall and strong, very friendly and attentive. His motto is "Service". This has been shown during our trip. In Romania you can make, so I believe, with him in any season wonderful travels and trips. Taro Odashima -Berlin
